How to get what you want

This is a "thought bubble". It is an...

What you focus on expands.  If you focus on what you don't want, guess what shows up? Yes more of what you don't want. The thoughts that you have now create your future.  What do you focus on? Are you thinking about what you don't want?

For example, if you want more money in your life what do you think about? Are you focusing on the lack of money? Your debts? All the unpaid bills?  If so, what you are thinking about will expand. i.e. more debt.

How to turn it around.
Be truly grateful for what you currently have even if you don't have very much.  Be thankful for every penny you have ever received.  Become an excellent money manager, spend less than you earn and save the rest.

Do you lack confidence? What do you think about? The confidence you don't have or how fearful and useless you feel?

How to turn it around
1. Get curious about what you feel when you want to do something but something inside stops you.  What is that feeling?  What is it telling you? Is it a voice saying 'You can't do it, or your not good enough or I don't have what it takes?  If so these are beliefs that you hold about yourself and they will be limiting your success.  Once you are aware of these beliefs you can change them and choose better beliefs.  I am good enough or I can do this or I do whatever it takes.

2. Imagine yourself doing whatever it is that you want to do.
3. Do it!

Motivation begins in the mind

A Message from Noelyne.....

Motivation

You can do anything you wish to do, have anything you wish to have, and be anything you wish to be.

You don't know what you can really do until you try.
All you have to do is to act on your dreams.

You have the power within you to do things you never dreamed possible.
You would amaze yourself if you did all the things you're capable of doing.

This power becomes available to you  as soon as you change some of your beliefs.

Use your imagination and look at things as they can be.
You know what you are today but not what you may be tomorrow.

Your success begins in your mind.

Feeling irritated?

A Message from Noelyne...

Do you regularly feel irritated by other peoples behaviour?  Something they do or say makes you feel tense inside?  The feeling you get can get in the way of your peace of mind, cause you to lose sleep and feel bad tempered.

It often happens when your tolerance levels are lowered.  When you work long hours and take on too many tasks in a day.  When you push yourself beyond your limits so far that you don't realise that you are short tempered.  So the slightest thing can cause you to feel irritated.  In the normal scheme of things when you are relaxed and chilled out about life you probably wouldn't take any notice of what had happened.

The next time you snap at someone or you get that  feeling of wanting to burst inside then take a deep breath and walk away.  The consequences of not doing this can last a long time.

Go for a walk, make a cup of tea, take the dog out. Do something to take your mind off the little thing that irritated you.

Smile and be happy.  Think of all the things you have to be grateful about.

Enjoy the process of life,

Using your Intuition to Prevent Problems

A Message from Noelyne...

When did you last listen to your intuition and actually take action?  That sixth sense that's telling you that all is not well.  Why is that when you sense something is not quite right you still don't take action.  You leave it and hope it will sort itself out.  You think that you're probably being silly and there's not really an issue.  It's a minor thing and you shouldn't make a fuss or maybe you think it not important enough to do something about it.  You bury your head in the sand or put it to the bottom of the list, which never gets actioned.

Developing and using your intuition will add another resource to your tollkit for life.  Trust me when I say 'The next time you get a niggling doubt, check things out straight away'.  When I reflect back on the situations I have found myself in that developed into a problem there is more often than not a time at the start of the activity, project or relationship when something happened to tell me that all was not quite how it should be, a warning signal, that I chose to ignore.  Often quite small although sometimes major. Regardless I chose to ignore it or it suited me to choose to believe that it wasn't really a problem, and yes it was my choice.  Normally, because it didn't seem sufficiently significant at the time.  Or I was too busy.  Maybe I didn't want to have to deal with it for fear of the consequences there and then.

It's often as a result of always seeing the best in people and then doubting the evidence in front of you.  Convincing yourself that it's OK and that the person hasn't really crossed your boundaries.  Perhaps you don't feel strongly enough about it.  It could be down to a lack of self worth and not putting enough value on the things that are important to you.  Allowing other people to break your rules and standards and not doing something about it.  Allowing others to take advantage of your good nature.  And of course you only have yourself to blame.  One of my beliefs in life is that you are responsible for everything that happens to you in your life.  You are where you are as a result of the decisions you do or don't make.

However, if you trust your intuition and take action at the start when you get that niggling doubt, you nip things in the bud.  You prevent it from becoming a major issue.  This works for both personal, professional and Business Life.  So overcome your fear of using your intuition and stop burying your head in the sand.  Use your intuition to become aware of when other people have stepped over your boundaries and take action.  Speak up for yourself.  If you're wrong there's no harm done and at least you will feel better and can rest assured that have done everything you possibly could.

Enjoy the process of life,

How Limiting Beliefs Keep you Safe and Make it Easy Not to Take Action.

A Message from Noelyne...

After a recent session that I delivered on the difference between Limiting Beliefs and Empowering Beliefs a discussion followed amongst the group.  For some it was quite revealing how their beliefs about themselves were keeping them stuck and stopping them from achieving their full potential.

One person realised that she was continually saying that she is not confident and that she can't do things.

Another person realised that she was being heavily influenced by people around her and that she had started to believe some of the comments from other people, which were undermining her confidence totally, such as 'You are too stupid to do that'.  It was stopping her from taking action.

I shared the concept that people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime which is a belief that I hold to be true.  Throughout my life whenever I have had a problem then someone has come along to help me solve it.  If I needed to learn something then another person comes along to teach me.  Some people have been in my life for a long time and I know they will stay.  Some people had not heard of this and found it inspiring.

It lead to another comment from a particpant around a belief that many people have and that is the idea that your life is mapped out for you so no matter what action you take it won't make a difference.  The idea that there is a big plan for each individual.  It struck me later that this could be a limiting belief as it encourages the person to sit back and wait for the grand plan to unfold.  You could end up drifting along and getting nowhere.  It would be quite convenient at the end of your life to look back and say, well that's what was intended for me, there was nothing I could do.

If you want to know how to identify any beliefs that could be limiting you and how to overcome them I encourage you to join my Personal Achiever's Club where each week I provide step by step lessons on how to overcome things such as this.  You get a toolkit of resources to boost your confidence and self-esteem and empower you forever.

How to Easily Overcome Your Fears in less than 10 minutes

A Message from Noelyne...

Lets clarify what I mean by fears.  One dictionary definition states 'be afraid or feel anxious or apprehensive about a possible or probable situation or event; "I fear she might get aggressive".'
It's a combination of a feeling and thought that you have about an unknown situation based on your belief or preconceptions of what might happen in the future.  It can be based on a previous bad experience or from listening to others

In some situations the feeling of fear that you get is an instinctive response to a threatening situation, your intuition telling you that something is not right and that you need to be wary or even remove yourself from the situation. Sometimes described as the fight or flight response.  This is a positive use for fear as it protects you from harm.

The fear I want to consider in this article is the feeling or emotion that causes you to decide not to take action.  The sort of fear that gets in the way of you becoming all that you can be e.g. not applying for a new job, not speaking up for yourself at a meeting, not putting forward your ideas at home or work, not confronting someone about a problem they have caused, not volunteering to do a presentation for your employer... It's an adverse emotion that stops you moving forward and getting  the life that you really want.

The great thing is that once you admit that you are afraid it's quite easy to overcome those fears.

The first thing you need to do is:

Believe that you can overcome your fears!

This is vital to your success.  If you believe that you can’t overcome your fears then guess what? You won’t!  Your beliefs about yourself and your life create the life that you have.  What you believe to be true affects you every day and minute of your life.  If you are holding back or not being as successful as you would like to be it will be due to a belief that you have about the situation or yourself.

The awesome thing is that a belief can be changed.

So what is a belief?

Beliefs are thoughts that you hold to be true about yourself and your life.  There are many beliefs that we all hold which will be the same for example, I believe that the sun rises and sets every day.  I believe that water evaporates to form clouds which rise over mountains and causes rain to fall.  These are the sort of beliefs that will not change.

Where do beliefs come from?

Your beliefs are formed as a result of your education, your religion, your parents, your experiences, the media and many more.  Each individual person has very different upbringing and experiences which makes you who you are.  Each individual will have different beliefs and a different view of the world and depending on the experiences, these beliefs could be positive and resourceful or negative and un-resourceful.

Which of the following two possible beliefs do you think is more likely to result in a positive confident outgoing successful person?
1. ‘It’s a big wide scary world out there full of people out to manipulate and scheme against you and grab your money’. Or
2. ‘It’s a fantastic world filled with an abundance of opportunity and supportive people’.

If you don't get that it's 2. then this article is not for you.

Lets assume that you have accepted that your fear is holding you back and that you believe that you can overcome your fears.

You are now ready to move to the next level.

The Power of your thoughts

The thought of doing whatever it is that you want to do is often far worse than the reality.  Think about a time when you nearly didn't do something because of how afraid, sick or fearful you felt.  Did it turn out to be as bad as you thought?
The majority of the time it won't be.  If it does at least you can make an informed decision based on experience rather than just your thoughts as to whether you wish to proceed with that course of action.

The thought that you have is normally based on your preconception of what might happen.  Your mind starts to go into protective mode and imagine all sorts of negative outcomes all aimed at keeping you safe and in your comfort zone.
This of course is quite acceptable if you want to stay where you are doing the same old thing day after day.

To get what you want in life, to grow and improve you need to learn to overcome that feeling of fear and go out and do it.
To do this you need to become aware of the negative thoughts and then change them. Instead of thinking that everything will go pear shaped so there's no point in giving it a go, you need to imagine a positive outcome, the outcome that you really want.

For example, you have been asked to make a presentation at a conference and you know that it is a great opportunity however, your fear of public speaking stops you from accepting.  The pictures you have in your mind currently are you standing up on stage stuttering, sweating profusely, tripping over the wires, the powerpoint not working etc etc. So much so that you decide not to do it.

A colleague with far less experience than you accepts, does a reasonable job and gets promoted as a result!  How do you feel now!
Do you think this person didn't feel any fear?  Most people do and that's quite normal, it's telling you that you need to prepare.
Part of that preparation is imagining yourself standing on stage speaking clearly, confidently and making a very effective  presentation. Imagine the smiles and applause.  Imagine feeling fantastic.

Obviously there are other things that you need to do to achieve the end goal.  However, having a positive mindset at the outset will guarantee a good result.

If things don't go as well as you imagined that's OK too.  Don't beat yourself up!.  Celebrate completing the task and overcoming your fears  You can review and learn from the experience, get some feedback, do more research and then give it another go.  You learn from the experience and plan to do it better next time.

If you are worried about what other people will think of you if you make a mistake...don't be!  People soon forget, they are much more interested in their own problems and fears.  And anyway people tend to remember the first impression they get of you, which is created in the first 30 seconds of meeting someone for the first time.  I can show you how to make a god first impression too for more information check out my blog via the link below.

Most of all start to enjoy the process of life,

How to Overcome Anything Toolkit - Responsibility

Hope - Faith - Love - LuckImage by Funchye via Flickr
A Message from Noelyne....

What do you believe about your life and your current situation?

Do you believe that you have no choice and that everything is mapped out for you so no matter what you decide it won't make any difference?
Do you think things are outside your control?
Do you feel that life's not fair and why should other's get all the good luck and fortune?  Poor old you....

The chances are that if you answered Yes to any of those last three questions then you are not as successful as you would like.  In fact you probably feel quite sorry for your self and wish that things could be different.  You maybe think that there's no point in doing anything about your life.  You may even feel happy that you have something or someone to blame because you can stay in your comfort zone.  I can guess that  you are happy complaining about your bad luck and everything thats wrong with your life.

On the other hand:

Do you believe that you do have choices and that you can decide what happens in your life?
Do you believe that you have control over your own behaviour?
Do you feel grateful that life is full of opportunity, good luck and fortune?
Do you take full responsibility for everything that has happened in your life so far?

Answering yes to those questions means that you are well on your way, if not already there, to a highly successful life.  You are living the sort of life that you dreamed of as a child.

The responsibility question takes a bit of getting your head around.  I struggled with this one particularly in relation to the lack of children in my life.  I did feel that life was unfair and that I had no choice and that things were stacked against me.  Now I can see that I was responsible for what happened.  I chose to marry a man who was unable to have children.  I didn't know that at the time however, I chose to stay with him even when I found out.  After my marriage broke down I decided not to have a child with my boyfriend, even though he offered :) My point is that it's the decisions that you make that shape your life.  Once you are aware of this you can take responsibilty for your current situation and then make sure you make much better decision in the future.
